Acoustic Couti defies narrow categorization. Here, the Beatles follow Fats Waller chasing Gershwin on the way to Woodstock. Gritty Delta blues get shaken together with Appalachian fiddle tunes, Kentucky bluegrass, a jigger of St. Louis ragtime, and a twist of Memphis rockabilly.
The Couti draw from a vast pallet of musical styles and influences spanning more than a century of popular music. They offer few clues as to what they’ll mix into their next bottle of musical moonshine, only the guarantee it will be strong, smooth, intoxicating, and likely to lead to partying.
