Networking- How We Do It
At Cassandra Music & Supply, we work with local businesses and
organizations to help them find the musicians they want to hear
while helping local musicians play the gigs they're looking for.
We do this in a few ways:
Hire-A-Musician Referrals
When a business-owner is looking to make connections with local musicians so they can "shop" music and book performances, they send us an e-mail with their general request (eg. "We need an upbeat rock & roll group to play on Saturday night.")
Depending upon the situation, we either send out an "Alert" to the musicians who meet the need expressed by the business-owner or we compile a list of musicians who may be interested in performing at the location under discussion. From there, the business-owner and performers communicate directly to determine whether and when the musician will be performing, though we do ask that they let us know what they've come up with so we can put it on our calendar as another success story.
In this instance, we don't really consider ourselves to be "representing" anyone as much as facilitating the booking of engagements that are a direct result of our networking skills. We consider this a community service and do not charge musicians for these gigs because they're the ones doing the work.
Intermediary Booking
Businesses and organizations approach us for help in filling a list of dates in a concert
series or event, so we set to finding the right mix of diverse local talent to make the
most of the listening time available. When this is the case, we contact performers
to ask if they'd be interested in playing at a certain date and time. We then get confirmation
from the contracting party and assist in making final arrangements.
We are generally paid by the business or organization asking us for help, and
musicians are paid upon the completion of their performance by the organization
or business-owner, as usual.
Weekly Bookings/ Music Program Management
Whether we've been contracted to get a music program going, to train staff to run it themselves or to run the program on an ongoing basis, Cassandra Music & Supply is booking on behalf of a venue.
Payment terms are clear with guarantees in place, contracts are available, and programs we run operate in a manner requiring investments of time, promotional assistance and monetary compensation from all parties involved in the exchange.
Full Representation
While we've had success in finding Represented Acts new gigs through outreach efforts, we prefer to assist the musical community as a whole by matching performers up with the venues and audiences that will most appreciate their performances. We suggest instead that people view our ever-growing Network to get an idea of the beadth and depth of performers we work with in the Puget Sound Area.
